Once

In 2018 Plop Galeria asked me to be part of ABC Chile; a little book + poster where every letter of the alphabet depicts something typical about our rich Chilean culture.

I got (in my opinion) one of the best letters; the letter O.

O as in Once. Pronounced on -like an On switch- and ce, like SEntimental. Once literally means "eleven".

"Come to have once (eleven), at 5 o'clock. Tea, coffee or milk, toast and pastries. That is a typical Once, a meal served in the afternoon which is a Chilean tradition. But little is known of its origin. Possibly adapted from the English tea time. There is more mystery to its name. Many agree it is a code to invite someone to drink a glass of brandy or aguardiente, liquor whose name has eleven letters."
